My great uncle (R.I.P.) worked at the Pentagon for many years as a treasurer after a very colorful career in the army. His office was where the "plane" hit. He told me one time about his harrowing experience when 9/11 happened. He said everyone was hysterical and running here and fro trying to figure out what just happened and properly respond. Everyone's top secret clearance was terminated as soon as the first plane hit the first twin tower except for the top officials including his. He said when the "plane" hit he had just left his office to see why everyone's checks were wrong and was just coming back when h heard a loud whistling sound much like a missile (not a plane) and next thing he knew he was looking up at the ceiling from his back. He looked around and saw nothing but bodies and rubble and when his hearing returned screams of fear and pain so his military instincts kicked in and he ran around trying to held the injured and pull bodies from the rubble. When he returned to his office there was nothing left except a gaping hole that looked like a missile had hit it. When he went outside to access the damage he saw shrapnel from a missile (again not a plane) so he ran to his boss to tell him and to see what he could do to help. All he was told was he better keep his mouth shut about what just happened or he "would be very sorry." He retired that same day in total disgust and had nothing to do with the military or government that he now hated and was ashamed of till his dying breath.

I get sad sometimes when I see how people cannot be themselves anymore in this world without huge risk of attacks. We're told to be ourselves, but increasingly we're shunned for it.

Thank you for sharing these coherent thoughts.
