Emails Reveal Fauci's Effort To Ridicule "Anti-Lockdown" Infectious Disease Experts
Newly released emails show NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci and his boss, soon to retire Dr. Francis Collins, director at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) wanted to conduct a "quick and devastating" ridicule and take-down campaign of scientists who did not support lockdown strategies.
The emails were released on Friday by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis. They show Collins telling Fauci in October 2020 to smear and discredit the Great Barrington Declaration.
The Great Barrington Declaration is a statement created by Dr. Martin Kulldorff, professor of medicine and epidemiologist at Harvard University, Dr. Sunetra Gupta, professor and epidemiologist at Oxford University and Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, a physician, epidemiologist and professor of Medicine at Stanford University. It also has an impressive list of co-signers that include some of the most renowned scientists in the world, along with nearly one million signatures from doctors, concerned citizens and healthcare workers.
It advocated against lockdowns and more appropriate strategies to combat the spread without the devastating consequences of measures that governments were and are putting into place. It also advocates for the use of natural immunity, for which the science is now quite robust.
When the leak came out, Bhattacharya stated in a tweet that now he knows "what it feels like to be the subject of a propaganda attack by my own government. Discussion and engagement would have been a better path."
And this is exactly the point, discussion and engagement of evidence and opinion that calls into question government measures has not been allowed. It's simply been unacknowledged and when it is acknowledged, it's been heavily ridiculed.
Fauci wrote to Collins again the next day, this time referencing an op-ed by Gregg Gonsalves, a public health professor at Yale, in The Nation that ridiculed what The Great Barrington Declaration was calling for.
On October 16th, Fauci emailed Deborah Birx, the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator. He pressed the need for her to oppose the GBD, and set the stage for an attack on Scott Atlas, who was the most friendly champion of the GBD on the Task Force.
This is even more concerning given the fact that Collins & Fauci were in charge of $41 billion that funds nearly every epidemiologist, immunologist, and virologist of note in the US.
The Great Barrington Declaration desperately tried to convey early on in the pandemic what we know now to be true, that lockdowns have killed more people than COVID and have been one of the worst public health catastrophes in the history of humanity.
Throughout the pandemic, studies emerged claiming that lockdowns would be and were successful at limiting the spread of COVID. These were beamed out across multiple mainstream media outlets, while studies purporting that lockdowns did nothing to stop the spread of COVID were completely ignored and unacknowledged within the mainstream. A proper discussion around this was not had. In fact, the number of studies claiming lockdowns had no effect on the spread of the virus and killed more people than COVID far outnumber those that claim they work.
The power of people like Fauci to influence the perception of the masses using resources like mainstream media is tremendous.
There are now more than 400 studies on the failure of compulsory COVID interventions. If you'd like to see more examples and the science of lockdowns that was ignored, ridiculed and still remains unacknowledged within the mainstream, you can do so in an article I recently published: Lockdowns: The Worst Public Health Catastrophe In Human History
These new email leaks represent something that is now well known, the attempt to ridicule and censor scientific evidence and opinion that goes against actions governments took to deal with COVID-19.
The censorship taking place today is like something we've never seen before, and it's happening in more ways than one. One example we recently covered was with regards to the editor-in-chief of The British Medical Journal (BMJ), Fiona Godlee, and soon to be editor-in-chief Kamran Abbasi. They have criticized Facebook and their "fact-checkers" for labelling a BMJ article as false news.
The "fact-check" on the BMJ came as a result of the BMJ receiving dozens of internal company documents, photos, audio recordings, and emails showing concerning fraud that happening during Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials. You can read more about that here.
This leak was heavily censored and even labelled as "false news."
Facebook has now removed at least 16 million pieces of content from its platform and added warnings to approximately 167 million others.
“The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element of democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of.”
