Novak Djokovic & The Anti-Scientific Stupidity of Vaccine Passports
Tennis star Novak Djokovic, after a long flight to Australia to play in the Australian Open, had his visa cancelled after his vaccine exemption documents were not accepted. Australian border officials denied him entry.
Djokovic spent the night trying to convince the authorities he had all the necessary documentation, but the Australian Border Force issued a statement saying he failed to meet entry requirements.
"The rule is very clear," Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said. "You need to have a medical exemption. He didn't have a valid medical exemption. We make the call at the border, and that's where it's enforced."
Djokovic was transferred Thursday morning to a secure hotel controlled by immigration officials that also holds asylum seekers and refugees. He has still not disclosed his vaccine status, but has long been quite outspoken about mandatory vaccination measures. The decision of whether he will be allowed to play in the tournament remains in limbo as his case has moved to the law courts. The tournament begins on Jan 17, 2022.
What is the reasoning behind vaccine passports in general? It's to stop the spread of the virus, under the presumption that unvaccinated people are spreading the virus more so than vaccinated people. It's based on the idea that you are protecting the "herd" and other people around you by getting vaccinated. But this isn't true, so why are these measures still in place?
Sure, a COVID vaccine can lessen your chances of severe illness/hospitalization and death for several months, but it does not stop the transmission of the virus or lesson your chances of becoming infected. This is something that's well known. It's become quite obvious with the Omicron variant, but it's something that's been observed throughout this pandemic.
Data is constantly being published by academics emphasizing this fact. A recent paper was published emphasizing the number of unvaccinated people that need to be excluded from a setting to prevent one COVID transmission is extremely high and negligible. The study didn't even take into account the immunity that's already been built up in a large amount of the population.
The authors explain,
Second, while SARS-CoV-2 vaccines are beneficial, the high NNEs suggest that excluding unvaccinated people has negligible benefits for reducing SARS-CoV-2 transmissions in many jurisdictions across the globe. This is because unvaccinated people are likely not at significant risk – in absolute terms – of transmitting SARS-CoV-2 to others in most types of settings (as of mid-to-end November 2021). This is why so many unvaccinated people likely need to be excluded to prevent one transmission event.
Omicron outbreaks are being recorded in fully vaccinated and boosted populations. Even prior to the emergence of Omicron, outbreaks in the most vaccinated regions on earth were recorded. For example, in November Gibraltar had vaccinated 100 percent of their eligible citizens yet experienced an exponential outbreak.
In Massachusetts a total of 469 new COVID cases appeared during a number of public events in July of 2021, and 74 per cent of these cases occurred in those who were fully or partially vaccinated.
In Israel, an outbreak of COVID-19 involving 16 healthcare workers, 23 exposed patients and two family members was caused by a fully vaccinated patient. Of all exposed individuals, the vaccination rate was 96.2 percent.
Two unvaccinated patients developed mild disease, while fourteen fully vaccinated patients became severely ill or died.
In fact, of the top five counties that have the highest percentage of population fully vaccinated (99.9–84.3%), the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) identifies four of them as “high” transmission counties.
Since this outbreak occurred, it’s now been firmly established in scientific literature that fully vaccinated COVID infected individuals can carry the same viral load as COVID infected unvaccinated individuals. The paper that explains this was published in September 2021, and found that "Increases in COVID-19 are unrelated to levels of vaccination across 68 countries and 2947 counties in the United States."
In October, cases and deaths briefly reached new highs in Singapore, a country with vaccination coverage of 94 per cent. The population of 5.9 million recorded 25, 950 new cases in the week of October 25th alone.
In Ireland, which has 92 per cent of its eligible population vaccinated, deaths and transmission rates from the virus have roughly doubled since August.
The list goes on and on. Not only do the COVID vaccines not stop transmission, but there are other concerns that are being raised which mainstream media continues to ignore, and as a result much of the public is completely unaware.
Approximately 50 percent of vaccine injuries reported to VAERS in the last 30 years are all from COVID vaccines. Furthermore those seeking compensation, which is a difficult road in of itself, are compensated from taxpayer dollars. COVID vaccines, and most other vaccines for that matter, are a liability free product. Pharmaceutical companies cannot be held accountable if their products injure or even kill someone.
The tremendous harms that vaccine passports are causing have not been taken into consideration. They are causing shortages in the healthcare industry all over the globe. Not only this, but people are losing their ability to put food on the table and are now seen as a second class citizen.
Another strong point is that health policy has failed to include the robust science that's been published regarding natural immunity. Why hasn't natural immunity been included in health policy when it offers, at the very least, the protection that COVID vaccines may provide?
Dr. Martin Kulldorff, a Harvard medical professor, epidemiologist and vaccine expert alongside Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, a Stanford medical professor explained in April, 2021,
Covid vaccine passports would harm, not benefit, public health. The idea that everybody needs to be vaccinated is as scientifically baseless as the idea that nobody does....Vaccine passports are unjust and discriminatory. Most of those endorsing the idea belong to the laptop class — privileged professionals who worked safely and comfortably at home during the epidemic. Millions of Americans did essential jobs at their usual workplaces and became immune the hard way. Now they would be forced to risk adverse reactions from a vaccine they don’t need.
Vaccine passports serve no purpose. Given the fact that one is, to an extent, protecting themselves from hospitalization and death from COVID, despite an already extremely high survival rate for healthy individuals, what is the point of restricting the rights and freedoms of those who are unvaccinated?
Lockdowns have already been one of the most catastrophic medical interventions in human history, killing more people than COVID. What are the consequences of vaccine passports?
To me, it doesn't make any sense. Sure, perhaps one could say it's simply another way to encourage (I would say coerce) people to get vaccinated in order to ease the pressure on hospitals. But hospitals and ICUs have been struggling long before COVID.
Novak Djokovic is being made an example of right now because he's a sports superstar with a big following. If he is not putting any vaccinated people at risk, is not sick, and has not tested positive for COVID, then why not let him play?
Why would he not be allowed to enter into Australia?
The idea that unvaccinated people are a danger to others is still being touted within the mainstream. This is something that's hard for me to understand, and I have yet to come across anybody who can adequately explain it to me.
