“You Have But A Short Time To Live Together In Peace & Goodwill” – A 1977 Extraterrestrial Hoax?
In November 1977, a news broadcast airing in multiple parts of England was "hacked" and interrupted with a message from a supposed extraterrestrial. How this was done and by who remains a mystery.
On November 26th, 1977, there was a broadcast (Television) interruption in parts of South, South-east, and South-west England. Southern Television was the licence holder for the service, headquartered in Southampton and Dover, and broadcast from the transmitters at Dover, Bluebell Hill, and Hannington. The interruption made headlines across the world and the event still remains a complete mystery. These headlines were responsible for causing a degree of panic at the time.
“I'd first like to refer to the recording itself of the complete message, one thing that struck me was that there was in fact nothing threatening whatsoever on the tape, and I was aware that most of the newspaper reports said it was threatening and frightening and so on, and so forth, and I just want to point out that that's sort-of a projection of the fears onto the material itself rather than the reality.”

A popular clip that can be found all over the internet today shows Southern TV’s news anchor Andrew Gardner relaying the day’s news when all of a sudden, the TVs of those who were watching went blurry. The broadcast was replaced by a distorted voice that delivered a message for approximately six minutes.
What I find interesting about this case is that it’s never been solved. It’s simply been assumed that the station was ‘hacked’ and this was some sort of prank. I think to myself, how hard would something like this be to pull off in 1977? It must not have been an easy feat at that time given the fact that technology wasn’t very advanced, it’s not like it could have been done in a few minutes with a laptop.
How, at this time, could one jam a TV signal and replace the audio and video with that of their own for so long? I don’t know the answer to that question, or whether or not it is possible and/or how difficult it would have been in 1977. I can’t find any other instances where this has happened.
It may sound nuts. But I can promise you that this message is interesting to researchers in the field of ufology, given that the sentiment shared is consistent by many supposed experiencers for several decades.
The message from the broadcast reads as follows:
This is the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. For many years you have seen us as lights in the skies. We speak to you now in peace and wisdom as we have done to your brothers and sisters all over this, your planet Earth. We come to warn you of the destiny of your race and your world so that you may communicate to your fellow beings the course you must take to avoid the disaster which threatens your world, and the beings on our worlds around you.
This is in order that you may share in the great awakening, as the planet passes into the New Age of Aquarius. The New Age can be a time of great peace and evolution for your race, but only if your rulers are made aware of the evil forces that can overshadow their judgments.
Be still now and listen, for your chance may not come again. All your weapons of evil must be removed. The time for conflict is now past and the race of which you are a part may proceed to the higher stages of its evolution if you show yourselves worthy to do this. You have but a short time to learn to live together in peace and goodwill. Small groups all over the planet are learning this, and exist to pass on the light of the dawning New Age to you all.
You are free to accept or reject their teachings, but only those who learn to live in peace will pass to the higher realms of spiritual evolution. Hear now the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. Be aware also that there are many false prophets and guides operating in your world. They will suck your energy from you – the energy you call money and will put it to evil ends and give you worthless dross in return.
Your inner divine self will protect you from this. You must learn to be sensitive to the voice within that can tell you what is truth, and what is confusion, chaos and untruth. Learn to listen to the voice of truth which is within you and you will lead yourselves onto the path of evolution. This is our message to our dear friends. We have watched you growing for many years as you too have watched our lights in your skies.
You know now that we are here, and that there are more beings on and around your Earth than your scientists admit. We are deeply concerned about you and your path towards the light and will do all we can to help you. Have no fear, seek only to know yourselves, and live in harmony with the ways of your planet Earth.

TV engineers tried to get to the bottom of the interruption and stop it but were unsuccessful. Nobody has ever claimed responsibility for the event and the news episode of that day remains a curious unsolved mystery that will never be explained.
An investigation into this was launched by the Independent Broadcasting Authority, but it’s difficult to find the results. The IBA was replaced in 1991 by the Independent Television Commission, which itself ceased to exist in 2003 when it and other bodies were folded into the new broadcast regulator, Ofcom.
David Barnett, a journalist from the Independent states in a piece he wrote a about the event:
“I asked Ofcom, but of course they don’t keep records from other bodies going back so far. They did point out that deliberately interfering with the UK’s TV and radio infrastructure is against the law, and can affect others who need to use vital airwaves – such as the emergency services.”
Does A “Galactic Federation” really exist?
The idea that there is some sort of "galactic federation" of races that represents a benevolent force in our galaxy or universe is not new. Channellers, those who claim to be in telepathic communication with different groups of extraterrestrials, have relayed this idea to the human race for many decades.
This idea was sparked again in 2020 when Haim Eshed, former head of Israel's Defense Ministry's space directorate, former Brigadier General for Israeli Military Intelligence and respected professor claimed that the U.S. & Israel have been in contact with intelligent extraterrestrials for quite a long time. He specifically referenced the "Galactic Federation" emphasizing how they are waiting for humanity to evolve, and that we are not quite ready for contact. This sentiment matches the message from the broadcast above.
Furthermore, there is also a declassified CIA document I came across many years ago outlining that the CIA conducted a remote viewing session to view a “Galactic Federation” headquarters on Earth. I was confused when I saw this, is this document implying that the US government knew/knows about a “galactic federation” base on our planet and was attempting to look in on it?

It’s interesting that this remote viewing session was conducted in 1988. First of all, where would the CIA get the idea to even look for some sort of galactic federation? It raises many questions.
At the end of the day, regardless of who or what was able to do this in 1977, the message that we must learn “to live together in peace & goodwill” will probably resonate with most humans. Many of us probably feel this now more than ever!
Another interesting fact about this transmission, was the Colin Andrews, an engineer with the local government, who was the only person at the time to begin investigating what became the crop circle phenomenon primarily focussed in the fields in S-W England, made a recording of it from his TV. The point is that when a weird interference like this starts happening on your television, people don't immediately run and get their tape recorder. It takes some time for anyone to realize that this is something truly extraordinary and that a record of it would be warranted, but by then it is usually over. But Colin wasn't even quick to realize this, and then immediately ran for his recorder, he had actually already it set up and was recording when it came on. In fact he had just bought this early consumer grade tape recorder with a crystal microphone that very day and had turned it on the first time to test it, just before the event started. So one can easily connect the dots, that it wasn't accidental that he did this, but that he must have done so (unconsciously) at the behest of the ones who were behind the broadcast and who must also then have been connected with the formation of the crop circles in the fields.
At this time in Nov. 1977, the crop circles that had formed that summer were small simple circles, but Colin had made note that they formed in fields away from the tram lines which commonly run through fields sown with different grains, as is the practice in the UK, due to tractors running along them to deliver fertilizer etc. So if people had made these circles it would have been very difficult since the grain would be disturbed if anyone stepped outside the tram line they had walked into the field on. Also he noted that these simple circles formed 'quartets' of four at regular distances from each other, indicating some intelligence was at play.
In consideration of Colin having been inspired to also record the broadcast, it thus seems likely that the same intelligence which had been behind the broadcast, had either influenced Colin to take note of their intelligence operating in the fields, or probably more likely, had become aware of him after he himself had noted this intelligence and had then started to guide him intentionally. Or it's even possible he had made a soul contract with whoever was behind this intelligence before he was born, to start revealing the significance of the crop circle phenomenon to the world at this time.
Anyway Colin Andrews went on to become the primary promoter of the phenomenon in the UK (and globally) and even coined the term "crop circle". The circles became more and more complex each summer following that and in the 90s they attracted droves of people, who on the whole, saw their significance as coming from outside the Earth. But the phenomenon was also of interest to British intelligence services who acted to subvert and discredit this early surge of collective belief in an ET presence, by conning Colin to certify a crop circle as genuine on TV, one which they had surreptitiously made themselves, and then made it clear to the audience that it was faked. Also through the set up of hoaxers to claim as having made all the circles, the phenomenon became split into two camps -- those who believed it was still genuine and those who believed it was entirely a hoax.
Through my own visits to the UK to witness the phenomenon in the summers of 00's, i saw some circles as being undeniably of extraterrestrial origin while others as likely hoaxed, especially with the advent of groups of hoaxers becoming very proficient at creating very complex circles at night -- but often their activities still being witnessed by locals. Today i believe all the circles to be created by humans, although as Colin himself proposed -- that it could still be that some of the people who do create designs in the fields, are actually inspired by the ETs in the designs they come up with. Colin Andrews still holds the line on the phenomenon as he sees it https://www.colinandrews.net/ but over the ensuing years has been joined by many other voices with their own takes. Personally i believe the purpose of the phenomenon was to assist in bringing in a shift in human consciousness leading up to 2017, and that now it has departed, to be left to hoaxers to create temporary venues that are outside of normal collective reality, where people from all over the world can come to commune, and support the economy of economically depressed rural areas of the UK by supporting BnBs, pubs and tour operators.
As for the 1977 broadcast, i believe it was from an extraterrestrial faction, one connected with some of the crop circles, but to infer they were some "federation" representing all ETs, was only what they themselves deemed to be what the people of the time would be most likely to believe in.
Part of this message is good and other parts of it sound exactly like a human being living in the hierarchical govt. of a western nation would say. The "high command" sounds like the military. Getting "your leaders" to recognize they are influenced by evil is also hierarchical. While this would be a great boon to humanity, is it truly necessary to convince "leaders" who have no interest in being convinced?
There has to be a better way, and interestingly, the other part of the message seems to point to each individual working with other like hearted individuals to try to achieve peace. So the message has contradiction within it.
There are many indications of intelligent life forms from outside this planet. If these beings have been "helping" the US and Israel, they are either very evil or they haven't gotten anywhere yet. Both Israel and the US are engaged in multiple atrocities. This is definitely something we should pay attention to regarding "help" from other worlds and dimensions. That is, exactly what kind of "help" are they offering?
