This is a topic I have questioned myself or with friends many times - how can I be aware of what is happening in the world without being triggered by it? And there is a matter of trusting the information too, which is another topic!
I enjoy your approach very much Joe and I find I can remain calm while reading your sometimes uncomfortable information in a way I can’t with MSM.
As someone who has experienced major anxiety due to several big life events during the past 3 years while Covid was going on, I am only now starting to be able to regulate my nervous system so that I’m not reactive and this is despite practicing healing techniques myself.
As usual, very thoughtful with deep insight. I think that you are having more of an influence on society than you are giving yourself credit for. For one thing, is it necessary—or even possible to influence everyone? Just like a weightlifter needs weights to counterbalance his efforts to build up muscle strength, so too, we need a counerbalance—negative views—in order to find a positive balance in our lives. I think you and your group of helpers are doing a great job in building, keeping alive, and maintaining that precious counterbalance that mankind needs in order to find its proper place in the universe. Just don't dispair!
Growing up in apartheid South Africa, you learn from an early age to never trust your government. They have full control of the media. I lived in many countries and do speak a few languages. The agenda in most countries is the same! Divide, rule and control under the guise of appearing to protect.
I do tell my patients/clients to avoid the news. I think it's wonderful that you've attempted to create a balanced news platform and for that I'm grateful. Two things: I do not feel it is irresponsible for me not to routinely watch the news. Why? As an energy healer, intuitive, and empath, I "know" that if there is important news I need to be aware of, it will make its way to me in a synchronistic way. I don't feel the "need" to be caught up. I trust the Universe.
Second thing: Much of the MSM is fake. Knowing people who worked in the industry in L.A. for years who revealed this to me has totally opened my mind to what "those that would hold us back" will do to hypnotize and control the masses. Not cool.
Additionally, I do listen to some legacy media, because I need to know the lies that are being spread so I can arm myself against them if I am blindsided in some way.
The majority of people watch legacy media which spins everything. So, exposing ourselves to propaganda is very negative. Of course, it is supremely necessary and practical to know what major issues are occurring so we can deal with them if we can. We just have to make sure the information is sourced truthfully. Also, it easy to fill soul emptiness with the thrill of gossip, including the gossipy side of the news, that is unhealthy and addictive. There is junk food out there, doesn't mean we stop eating, we just need to imbibe our information, food and beverages responsibly from sustainable sources.
Not let ourselves be "highjacked", great word to use. Can I excercise awareness while watching or listening to news and not get sucked into the vortex? Your practice of being aware of the body is very useful. When i feel my heart race, come back to the breath and slow it down. Look away from the screen and notice things in the room so i become aware I am just looking at a screen. Right now feelig my fingers on the keys as i type.
Thanks for sharing your experience of using these techniques. I view this all as a process of exploring: does this work? Are we more embodied and consciously able to respond to what we learn and read? My sense is yes. And it's nice to hear other people's responses.
That sense of being present is so lost in our world. I believe that lack of presence is a key driver in why we not only don't feel good but don't feel able to respond to the crisis' unfolding. My hope is by inviting more people to become Explorers, we can move from having these crisis' happen to us to consciously, curiously and as playfully as possible exploring their purpose, meaning, and how we can respond.

I appreciate your viewpoint and wisdom. 🙏
Keep going! If you were to give up, they will have won!

Thanks for being here!
My approach: Monitor msm television news with the sound muted and read cc on screen.
There's a strategy that could work for sure. Sometimes I find MSM comes across robotic or outrageous, very little in between.
