In the process of awakening, it seems to me the form of national identity and patriotism need to fade the way of the dodo bird, nothing more than another form of identity separation. There is nothing to be proud of here in Canada or in the United States when you wake up to the scam that is nationalism and patriotism. These movements only drive separation and entrench division. The convoy was beautiful, but for it to elicit ‘Pride’ in being Canadian (whatever that is!) or American, or Dutch etc misses the mark. It was a movement of human beings in search of peace, freedom and justice…those three words have nothing to do with any nation - to believe such is to continue toiling in the confines of this globalized matrix.
I tend to agree with the fading away of national identity and patriotism. I know some have made a good case for the playful pride that can arise from experiencing life with qualities gained from being born in a place, having a specific culture etc, but at the same time it rarely seems to remain playful, it tends to become something people fight about and become divided by.
Keep plugging away! Here in USA I was so inspired by the convoy. I watched videos of those overpasses loaded with supporters throughout the days. I was with you patriotic Canadians all the way!
Me too. The first video I saw of the truckers was 25 minutes long and I had tears streaming down my face the whole time. Tears of relief, inspiration and pride in those truckers. (I'm tearing up now just relaying the memory). 💖
It's funny because, so many Canadians I talk to say this was one of the first and most noticeable times they felt proud to be a Canadian. I felt the same way. It's not that Canadians don't like Canada or think the country is bad or anything, but more so that the national pride is very relaxed and chill per se. But I believe the Convoy really moved people in a deep way. The love, relax, chill vibe of Canadians came together in a major event that meant something - that you could stand up for something without losing a sense of love and peace. It was amazing.
I could sense all that, Joe. It also made me feel I wasn’t crazy and alone down here. I already had a sister that disowned me and another one who laughed in derision when I sent a video of the convoy. The one sister has apologized and we are normal again. The other is stuck in her paradigm that she is always right. Always. But she lives on another continent east of mine and easily avoided. She’s concerned I’m a Trump loving evil Republican. I’m not. But not a dem either. They left me. I don’t give a hoot if I’m called an antivaxer. I’m 75 this year and been all over the board politically. Had cold level Covid before shots because I knew the medical community was lying big time for decades, those shots were not valid. My former tribe lies took a bit longer. Sorry. Substack is the ONLY place I can talk and get some validation and maybe help others. Stay strong! Hope I get to Canada again someday.
Keep up the good work on this!! Looking forward to your report on what they tell you next. This could be a major release for you guys (and the public) if it comes through.🙌
That's it, that's all, looking forward to seeing what they say too. I really hope we're headed towards resolve and not some huge uptick in fees or something lol
Joe, your work has always been of an excellent standard. Thank you for being a calm voice amongst the frenzied many.
Thanks for the feedback and love!
Thanks for your journalism work! 🙏
:) Thanks for the support!

Maybe try Twitter, too. There are some great people over there, and voices are rarely censored any more.
No. I’ve never joined and never will. But thanks.
I still am.
